Westside Charm -- Downtown Storefronts on the Petaluma River - LOCAL NEWS
Petaluma has a turn-of-the-century downtown with iron front buildings that line the Petaluma River waterfront. Petaluma has many different views... below is a tranquil setting in West Petaluma reminiscent of the way it started when called the "Chicken Capitol of the World". many years ago. Horse lovers still love it here today.
Petaluma has certainly grown up and transformed into a florishing community. In the year 2000, it has been christened with a new name, "Tele-com Valley". Many large communication companies are located in the business parks of Northern Petaluma. Eastside of Petaluma has developed over the past few decades. Petaluma also has it's own small plane Airport.

Petaluma is 40 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge and only 12 miles from the Sonoma Wine Country.  Petaluma is the first town you come upon only six miles after leaving Marin County on Hwy 101.  Petaluma gives you a choice to live in the country or in a suburban community.  As a city, Petaluma offers many varieties of housing.  Westside of Petaluma has many Victorian Homes within walking distance to colorful downtown that is also known for the multitude of Antique stores.  You can still get land for horses and other farm animals in the rolling hills of the Westside.  The East side is a suburb.  Some of the highlights on the Eastside is a Golf Course, small plane Airport,  an extension of the Santa Rosa Junior College Campus, the Marina with personal boat docks, and the Petaluma Valley Hospital

Homes are more affordable in Petaluma than they are in it's neighboring Marin County.  An entry level 3/2 home in Petaluma may start at $365,000.-$408,000.  Prices on the Westside may start slightly higher for the vintage homes.  Prices may be slightly less if you don't mind doing some remodeling or needed maintenance.  Home Prices have a vast range from $335,000 - $1,500,000 for single family homes here in Petaluma.  We also have our share of million dollar homes, even without acreage.

MARKET WATCH - Petaluma is in a sellers market. Hard to believe, but it is true. Inventory is very low below the $400,000 list price range and increases slightly as you go up in price. On the Westside (historic area) demand is high even up to $600,000. On the eastside (Newer side) homes up to the $650's that are under ten years old are in high demand.        l
