The City of Sebastopol is a small semi-urban community located 55 miles north of San
Francisco by way of the Gravenstein Highway (CA-116). The City, incorporated in 1902, currently has a population
of about 7,900 people and serves a trade area population in excess of 35,000 people.
Sebastopol connects to Santa Rosa by the Luther Burbank Memorial
Highway (CA-12) which is a main artery which crosses Hwy 101 and is 7 miles from Santa Rosa. Sebastopol
lies 11 miles east of Bodega Bay on the outrageously beautiful Pacific coastline and only 9 miles from the Russian River recreation region. The City of Sebastopol, incorporated in 1902, currently
has a population of about 7,900 people within the city limits and serves a trade area population in excess of 35,000 people.
On January 15th, 2002, the City of Sebastopol
passed a resolution committing the City to participate in the International Council of Local Environmental Initiative's Climate
Protection Campaign. This is a performance-oriented campaign that offers a framework for local governments to develop a strategic
agenda to reduce global warming and air pollution emissions, with the benefit of improving community livability.
