The City of Sonoma serves as the economic hub of Sonoma Valley  which has approximately 36,000 residents. Located at the South end of Sonoma County on it's eastern side on State Route 12.
 

The city of Sonoma is about 48 miles northeast of San Francisco and 18 miles southeast of Santa Rosa.  The City of Sonoma is a small, historic community of some 9,284 residents and 4,665 housing units. It is 2.2 square miles. Located in the heart of the Wine Country, Sonoma is ringed with world-class wineries and scenic vineyards. The town of Sonoma offers an unmatched quality of life, combining the pace and friendliness of small town living with cultural and recreational opportunities normally associated with much larger communities. The mainstays of the local economy are agriculture, tourism, and public services.
