Approximate Location Boundaries: Orangevale is bordered by US Highway 50 to the south and linked to Interstate 80 to the north. Both freeways provide ample access to downtown Sacramento or into Placer or El Dorado counties. The Folsom State Recreation area and Lake Natoma border the southern boundary of Orangevale, offering boating, fishing, hiking, biking and swimming opportunities. Lake Folsom is also nearby.

Location Characteristics: A little bit country. Set in rolling hills, its venerable oak trees and trails provide a rural feel in some neighborhoods within the community. Some say it offers the best of country and the best of the city. Many lots are zoned for horses. Largely a bedroom suburb of about 27,000, Orangevale has a full range of rental and private housing, including older, affordable homes. Large regional shopping centers are nearby.
