This is a VERY GOOD TIME TO BUY...

Location Characteristics: In recent years, Grass Valley and Nevada City have attracted artists, writers and musicians. Over the years, the community has been successful in attracting hi-tech businesses to Nevada County. It has also brought many business opportunities for those who want to leave the large metropolitan business environment and trade for the Sierra Foothills natural beauty, a sense of community, good schools and excellent recreation for a greatly improved life style, Grass Valley and the surrounding areas have much to offer for outdoor enthusiasts: mountains, lakes and rivers for activities in all seasons, including bicycling, hiking, white-water rafting, boating, snow skiing, golf, fishing, horseback riding, and much more! Blending the past Gold Rush days with the present, Nevada County is truly is a colorful growing Community. Grass Valley stretches over a 25 mile area. Nevada City's downtown district is a National Historic Landmark of the Gold Rush days. Did I mention the Pines and Manzanita trees and so many wildflowers?

Approximate Boundaries: Nestled in the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills of Northern California, this charming historic gold rush town is surrounded by rolling hills, distal snow-covered Sierra peaks, towering green pines and graceful oaks shading pastures in the lower elevations. Grass Valley is a bustling community with a sense of history and a view to the future. Located off Highway 49 in the Sierra Nevada foothills, Grass Valley covers a vast area beginning 15 miles north of Auburn.  That area is called South County.  Downtown Grass Valley is still another 12 mile drive through the beautiful mountain highway, also called Grass Valley Hwy.  It continues another four miles and borders Nevada City on it's north end.  The east side of Grass Valley has many small mountain communities on Colfax Hwy, Chicago Park, Pearsdale, Cedar Ridge. In the South County distinctly differnt communities include Alta Sierra subdivision and Lake of the Pines, a gated Golf-course community on a magnificient lake.  If you turn east from Hwy 49 onto Hwy 20, Grass Valley continues another eight miles until it borders Penn Valley on it's West end.  The winding country roads from Penn Valley through Indian Valley to McCourtney is just breathtaking and bring you back to the South County line by way of Lime Kiln and Wolfe Road which are road that can be driven instead of the Hwy. to navigate through this massive region of Grass Valley.  South County of Grass Valley is approximately 40 miles northeast of Sacramento.  Grass Valley is CALIFORNIA'S BEST KEPT SECRET!
