Just like the wildlife abundance here, so is the selection of styles to fit every taste. Choose a Victorian, a bungalow,
a farm house or a modern custom built home. Live in a golf community on a fabulous lake within rolling mountainous terrain
or choose your quiet retreat perched on a mountain. Bring your horses to your very own ranch... this is Penn Valley where
living in town feels rural.
Above the Fog, yet below the Snow...this is country living at its best, literally. Here, we have Country Property you have
always dreamed about. Choose your home on secluded acreage perched in the awesome canyons with a distal View or the feeling
of shelter from the modern times by sleeping under the canopy of your own lush Pines in a custom built home while you listen
to the babbling creeks splash by. Bring your horses; Penn Valley is the ultimate horse community where you can have a small
working ranch. Or, simply choose a peaceful mountain retreat. In Penn Valley, living in town feels rural.
Tall pines and Magnificent Oaks are the local scenery of Penn Valley. Wildlife flourishes here. Deer and Wild Turkeys
roam free, along with Jack Rabbits and the "Mr. Pepe le'peue" le skunk. You can hear the Coyotes howling on a hot
summer night. A remarkable town park includes a swimming hole and a gentle creek where little ones can wade through ankle
deep cool water during the hot summer months. There are dozens of barbecue pits and picnic tables alongside the water and
throughout the grassy knolls and swingsets. My Grandkids love all the playground equipment, too. Several baseball fields are
available, so you can watch little league on one field while seniors are practicing for their tournament in the next field,
a third game at the same time, and sometimes still another area for Soccer enthusiasts.
Do you prefer a Gated Community?
Lake Wildwood is Penn Valley's ultimate Golf-Course community surrounding a Gorgeous Lake. LWW has a population of approx.
3,500 residents inside an expansive gated community; each property is built on approximately .30-.50 acre lots within rolling
mountainous terrain that is just breathtaking every direction. Lake Wildwood originally started as a vacation area, where
you might own a summer home, but now people are choosing to live here year-round to enjoy the huge man-made lake with miles
and miles of shoreline. Lake Wildwood even has it's own elementary school within the gates. This golf-course community has
tennis courts and swimming pools. Wild turkeys and local deer have the right of way inside this gated community while the
gates keep the coyotes out.

THIS IS GOD'S COUNTRY
Penn Valley's population is approximately 6,500 while about half are living in the majestic Lake Wildwood gated community.
The original homes of Penn Valley were built with plenty of land... many single family homes in downtown Penn Valley have
about 1-acre, and horses are allowed in town. The more rural residents have from 5 to 20 acres for each home. This is a true
horse lovers community. Even the mobile home park has a very open country feeling. There are two gas stations and several
small business shops in the quaint downtown shopping center.
Local Characteristics:
21st Century with modern conveniences. This is an area rich in historic gold rush charm and the Old West hospitality.
The fire department hosts the Penn Valley Rodeo every April. Penn Valley began as a stage and freight wagon stop on the route
between Sacramento and the northern gold country and silver mines of Nevada State. The area remains rural, with cattle ranches
and vineyards dotting the landscape. The tiny village of Rough & Ready, just west of Grass Valley, is a state historic
landmark that once seceded from the United States. Local folks rebelled against a government-imposed mining tax and on Apr.
7, 1850 voted to form their own constitutional republic. However, The Great Republic of Rough & Ready lasted only until
the Fourth of July when Old Glory went up the flagpole and the whole episode became history. But it was not forgotten. Each
year on the last Sunday in June, Rough & Ready hosts a unique and fun-filled Secession Day Celebration.
My daughter moved to Penn Valley in 2001, and I followed her to this fabulous mountain community in 2015.

R'here in Penn Valley. If you Travel west about 27 miles on Hwy 20, you arrive in Marysville & Yuba City. Auburn is 20
